︎︎︎ When the sky is high the earth is dry ︎︎︎

Black and white silver prints

When the sun is high, the earth is dry. A neglected campsite on an island around the Mediterranean is in low season. An almost empty boat comes ashore every three days, and there aren't many tourists left. There are hardly any tourists left. There's not much left to do. The sanitary taps are running, and the beach next to the campsite is almost deserted, alone. The landscapes are alone and resting. They have felt worn out and are enjoying one last time before the storm, before the winter, the boredom and desire of their last tourists.

With this series of photographs taken in Greece in 2021 and built into a series two years later, I want to combine and compare boredom and desire. In a state of drowsiness and pervasive expectation, in an untouched environment, I want to talk about the common ground between these two emotions: total abandonment.

The work was exhibited in 2023, from May to July at the Marni Theatre, Place Flagey, Brussels, BELGIUM.
